Do You Have a Routine?

The importance of creating and maintaining a routine:

Working from home is new to most everyone since the start of social distancing. It feel like a vacation that is nothing like your idea vacation... more time for Netflix, time to cook dinner, maybe even sleep in... but the work is the same/even more sometimes.

  • You may notice your schedule quickly becoming spread out through the day. Emails are now coming and going at all hours. There is might not be a set breakfast lunch and dinner time- Are you slipping into a funk? Do you feel like you’re not able to switch off from work? The normal boundaries that existed before now appear to have fallen to the waist side. Even hydration is something you become less conscious of

  • Now is the time to start creating and keeping a sense of normalcy.  Structure is extremely important to your happiness and focus.

    • Start your day a boom! No one can make the excuse “there wasn’t enough time”- when you can set your alarm a little earlier and get a jump on the day. Seize the AM (exercise is just one of many things we can do to support our immune system and mental health/emotional wellbeing!)

    • Maintain a healthy diet! We all have the time now that we are social distancing... Create structure and master your meal prepping skills. Cook large batches and divide them up over the week to help ensure that you’re not eating poorly.

    • HYDRATE!

    • Allocate time for yourself. If you are feeling lonely or overwhelmed with your family, everyone needs time to be mindful and quiet their thoughts. This doesn’t need to be hours of your time- just 15 minutes to go for a quiet walk, stretch, unwind/relax, or meditate.

    • Don’t isolate yourself during this time- people are still out here to talk to. Don’t forget about maintaining those friends and family relationships.
